Bingo Rock and Roll style!
A new version of uk bingo has hit the bingo halls and bingo sites. People like to call it Rock and Roll Bingo. But is it Bingo or is it Rock and Roll?
A regular Bingo player and music fanatic from Leeds, Mike Walsh, invented this game. He started his new game for a bit of fun but it escalated and soon became a game loved by many. It was a brain wave idea to combine pub quizzes and bingo. As a trail he took it to local pubs and clubs. It then went on tour round universities and colleges. There is no doubt of its success.
So how does it work? Like in ordinary bingo everyone has a card and a dauber. However instead of numbers on your cards you have a mixture of names of famous bands and song titles. The caller instead of calling out numbers plays a few bars of a song from a ninety track CD. The tracks are selected at random in a manner similar to setting automatic shuffle on a CD player.
When you hear a track that corresponds with either a band or song title on your card you mark it. When you have achieved a specific pattern such as a line or full house you call out as in normal bingo.
Mike Walsh has now set up a company to market the game, and is in discussions with major live and online bingo companies regarding full commercialisation of the game. An online version is currently in development and plans are in place to produce a television version of the game.
Are we seeing the future of bingo? Will our bingo halls soon be filled with the dulcet tones of Queen rather than ‘two little ducks’? Only time will tell, but I believe this game will go far.
